Therapsids is a sequel to the 2009 album Synapsids. The samples used are repurposed into new compositions. Whereas Synapsids is dynamic and sprawling, Therapsids is plodding and meditative. Fault Lines is originally a 17 minute epic guitar freakout but here it is reduced to an intro of white noise and a rumbling of bass. White Sun is transformed from a jaunty bassline and riff into drones of pitch bent echoes and ringing sustains. Streams was a 44 second transition but here is ten minutes of motorik beat with stereo panning bursts of noise. The album closes with Tempest, before a one note piano riff dance-a-thon, now a guitar melody crescendo and release. This is the end of the Sea Tone moniker but Milam continues as VERSIONING.
